UP Maginhawa is known as a foodie destination for just about anything you'd crave for. From mainstream or street food to experimental dishes, you could probably find it here. Another addition to their long line of reputable restos is the Iscreamist.
Server was down for a few days.. which explains this (very) delayed post (in addition to the usual stalling). Anyway, here's a treat for the eyes and your taste buds!
Customized candy at your disposal. Twisted candies: add a bit of a flair to your usual hard candy. Each design has their own distinct and original taste, texture, and color. Their flavors vary from mint to chocolate-y, you name it! They even do multiple flavors in one candy design, perfect for party favors and giveaways.
It's hard to fit 3 days worth of Milan-goodness in one blog entry, and even more difficult to narrate everything we did. I'm not in the mood to make a long entry anyway so I guess the photos will have to do. Will try to make a more detailed article on my next travel post. Here's the top 3 sights we visited:
Da.u.de (pronounced as da-you-deh): traditional wellness for modern lifestyles. First time I've encountered a legit tea place in Manila. Their menu includes a wide range of tea infused dishes and drinks, very interesting indeed. When my friend told me about this I just had to give it a try.
My newest entry after being idle for 10 days: Two of the best Filipino restos are located at the Fort: Cafe Juanita and Bistro Filipino. I've heard of Chef Laudico before so I was ecstatic when I heard he opened a restaurant in Fort Bonifacio. The Bistro Filipino is an unconventional restaurant that recreates traditional home-cooked Filipino food, turning them into world class dishes!
The main dish was the highlight of the night. A 200g Wagyu Prime Cut Steak with a special sauce and sweet potato croquette. Just reading about it from the menu made me crave.
What can I say about this Burger heaven in Maginhawa? The first time my friends took me there I immediately loved it! I'm usually not the one who'd crave for burgers but theirs would be an exception. Customized burger was a great theme, wherein you'll be able to adjust the add-ons, buns, meat and sauce according to your preference. They also have the tofu and vegetarian burger for those prefer to eat healthy.
My friend and I had late lunch at Yabu: House of Katsu last Monday. Despite arriving there around 2pm, the place was still full. The restaurant was a lot smaller the last time I've been there but I remember making reservations earlier just to avoid the line. No wonder they had to extend by almost double its size. We were fifth in line but we didn't have to wait long to be seated.
An up and coming online by Anj Puyat and Mica Cabral. With more than 11,000 followers, Clothes Off had made its mark in the online shopping industry. What separates them from the rest? Unique designs sold at affordable prices! Its not your typical thrift shop store since everything's brand new! I had the opportunity to model for their 6th collection! Check it out here.
A ristorante can probably be spotted in every corner in Rome. Everywhere you look fresh pasta, pastries or gelato in every flavor possible could be seen at the display window. It's hard to spot the difference between each of them. Besides the fact that most (if not all) are called Ristorante, they all offer similar menu items.
With the smartphone hype nowadays, it’s almost impossible to not see someone using either an android, a blackberry or an iphone. Probably the most desired, since the release of its first model back in 2007, is the Apple iphone. A revolutionary gadget that changed how mobile phones are perceived and had been the benchmark of smart phones ever since. Apple competitors are having a hard time keeping up with its sleek design, wide range of downloadable apps, and impressive camera. (though i must say there are close seconds :>)
You might heard of him as the Philippine Genius made known by his downright rude attitude even in public radio. His outspokenness, while refreshing, hurts his image especially with the media scrutinizing his every move. Despite his reputation, I still think he makes sense, and his ability to articulate his thoughts without fear of being judged and criticized is somewhat impressive. His podcast kept me sane during those long hours inside the plane or bus whenever I travel. The episode with Carla Humphries as his guest would have to be my favorite. They do their usual routine, answering questions about love, sex, and relationships from their callers. And, as expected, his advice did not disappoint. Here's a preview:
My friends and I decided have our monthly dinner at Borough, Ortigas. Despite its location, people still visit this place, so something about it must be good. Mom's milk and cookies is what I think put this place on the map, which I find odd since its literally just milk and cookies.
Short post: One of the best way to spend a random tuesday must be to catch up with friends over good food, and Cyma was the perfect place for that. I finally had the chance to meet up with a friend of mine from college. Missed that girl so much, she never runs out of interesting stories to tell.
The reason why I haven't been posting recently is that I've been too preoccupied with the whole room renovation thing. I did it when I graduated from gradeschool and highschool, but this time, I completely got rid of my cartoon and school stuff (including my study table), and transfered some junk in the garage.
That same week I received this accessory organizer from Justine Castillo. It was particularly timely given that I'm organizing what's left in my room, including accessories. Those who know me personally know that I'm not a huge fan of jewelries. I myself was pretty surprised to find some hidden in my old trinket box.
Poise, brand name for our shoes. Designs are diversified and eclectically inspired yet aligned to a common denominator- Elegance. These shoes are locally made, the materials for each design are personally chosen by the designer. Crafted to offer comfort, a well-passed quality and a sophisticated product. Poise offers more than just shoes, but eclectic, chic and elegance. Founded last 2010, their shop includes a wide array of designs from flats to heels, with the mission to promote locally made products and raise awareness among our fellow Filipinos.
We just can't get enough of Tribute Shoes. Now on its second giveaway, with more variety to chose from. They recently released new designs: Madrid, Canes, and Barcelona. Also 100% Pinoy made! Comfortable, classic, well-made shoes, carefully, lovingly and (very) proudly crafted in the Philippines.
First time I've eaten in Gloria Maris. Though I've known this chinese restaurant for years, I never bothered to try it, not sure why. They transfered their branch to the new Greenhills shopping complex. Before watching the Amazing Spiderman, we had dinner there first. The place was divided in three sections: the hot pot (shabu shabu area), regular dining area, and a private area for the fine dining.
Haven't been posting in a while. I try to limit my entries to 15 per month, and none of thosei-don't-know-what-to-blog-so-here's-a-photo-of-my-wall type. Although this is a personal blog, I try to post something with substance as much as possible. Anyway, here's my last entry before this month ends!
How could you not fall in love with this place? With an overwhelming number of museums, sights and architectures, you'll never run out of places to visit. It's like a taking a trip in a time capsule, I was so amazed on how the Italians were able to preserve the city.
This photo was taken early morning by the Fontana di Trevi made by Nicola Salvi in the 1700s. I was able to throw in a coin and make a wish, of course. That's one thing off my bucketlist.
I happen to come across this unique shop near my house. From the outside, it looked like a spa and boutique combined but I can't seem to pinpoint what it really is. Every time I pass by it I couldn't help but be drawn to the interior. So, last thursday, I finally decided to check the place out. Posh &Glam is a one stop boutique, salon and organic pa for women of all ages. It is a duly registered business entity engaged in the importation of fashion and beauty products.
Feels weird that i've only eaten here once. Just thought of posting this to get rid of some files on my hard drive. Everyone probably knows about this place already, they serve good chinese food. Classic.
Who wouldn't be attracted to the laid back vibe of Stella's at Fort, Taguig? By now you've probably seen the pattern of restaurants I prefer: Monsees, Stacy's, Mom and Tina's, just to name a few. All of those restaurants exude an ambiance of casual comfort, and at the same time, offer a wide range of quality food options.
Newly renovated Cafe Monsees in Katipunan Extension reminds me so much of Stacy's. They serve more than just pastries and the place gives off the same cozy vibe, one best paired with a warm cup of hot choco (which I heard was one of their specialties).
